HELPFUL HINTS
Some helpful hints for healthy oral hygiene.
Floss daily- There are a variety of brands on the market. There is the traditional string floss, as well as floss holders to assist those that might find flossing difficult. Floss comes in various widths and flavors. Just pick one and floss away.
Brush twice a day (morning and evening). We recommend any of the electric toothbrushes over manual brushes as we feel they are more effective. Any fluoride toothpaste you like is recommended.
Rubber tip daily- Rubber tips are to be used to stimulate and massage the gums. They can be bought at most pharmacies.
Brush your tongue daily.
We recommend at least two check ups per year. Although some patients benefit more depending on individual circumstances; some insurance companies will now pay for more than two cleanings per year.
There is a link between good oral health and your overall general health. Studies have found a relationship between periodontal disease (gum disease) and cardiovascular illness, diabetes, stroke, osteoporosis, and low birth weights.
Therefore, we feel it is very important that you and your dentist work together to maintain optimal dental health. Use of tobacco and tobacco products increases your risk of oral cancers, dental decay, and periodontal disease.
